Brothers of 'Nam
I can still hear the jungles calling me,
nightmares of 'Nam won't let me be.
I'm never really awake or asleep,
in
my mind the enemy continues to creep.
I lay here alone in the dark,
chastised by memories that have left their mark.
Seeing my brothers
looking back at me,
lets me know they've been set free.
'Nam is where my mind will always roam,
it seems I'm still fighting to get back
home.
Everything around me seems so calm,
yet I can feel sweat dripping from my palm.
I haven't left my brothers who lost their lives,
I
can still see the fear of death in their eyes.
Living or dying became nobody's concern,
lives sacrificed to get nothing in return.
Stars
and stripes weren't what it was all about,
shedding blood for one another was the only way out.
For God and country were misunderstood,
it
was the bond shared between a brotherhood.
