Captain William L. (Bill) Hendrix

 

Bill passed away on Monday Sept. 5, 2011 after an extended illness.  His wife, Audrey, preceded him in death in 1999.  Bill enlisted in the USMC in 1952 and retired in 1973.  He served two tours in Vietnam and was commissioned as an officer.  He was awarded the Bronze Star with V, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon with 5 stars, National Defense with 1 star, Vietnam Service with 3 stars, Drill Instructor Award with 7 stars, and the Vietnamese Presidential Unit Citation.  He loved being a Marine and was proud of his service to his country.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 10 at Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc, at 100 Otsego St. Ilion, NY, at 11:30 a.m..  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service.  No flowers please.  Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Barracks at Camp LeJuene, NC.
